How does your schoolSAFE patent (11,900,778) improve safety in schools and at public events?

schoolSAFE represents a new generation in improving safety and property protection in educational settings. It combines old and new (fixed and mobile) safety and security devices into a seamless network. Its software App provides command and control by campus security and local police departments for instantly connecting students, teachers, and administrators.

In emergency situations, it automatically triggers alarms, transmits video recordings, cell phone notifications, GPS localization, and megaphone warnings. It also  activates defensive measures when its sensors or safety devices detect or report threats to personal  safety and public property. 

Each safety device in the system is pre-programmed to respond independently while simultaneously sharing its findings with all other devices and security personnel in the network. 

Deployment of these disparate devices gives security personnel heightened awareness, real-time status of secured and unsecured building entrances, around-the-clock visualization, and faster response times in both indoor and outdoor emergencies.

 

Does a Micro Apps Group licensee gain added patent protection?

Yes. We have patented a personal safety device, nightSTICK, which is an integral component of the schoolSAFE system. Besides voice activation, it automatically notifies personal contacts, authorities, and a 24/ emergency call center. Simultaneously, it sounds alarms (siren and strobe lights), captures video and transmits GPS location. Critically, it contains miniaturized protection devices: pepper spray, Taser, and a dye pack to ward off would-be attackers.

How do the self-defense tools work?

nightSTICK’s PSD contains a 100+ lumen strobe and a 120db piezo siren to draw attention to your plight and disrupt an assailant’s orientation. Its microphone is programmed to emit an authoritative voice, warning a perpetrator to retreat. 

It also contains two self-defense weapons:

  1. Pepper sprayer with a 3-to-10 foot range, causing pain and temporary bindness for up to 30 minutes. A non-washable UV dye in the spray clearly marks and identifies the assailant.

  2. Taser weapon that shoots darts up to 15-feet, delivering a 1,200-volt electrical shock. It is designed to keep an attacker down and immobilized for up to 30 seconds per jolt, not just "stunned." Tasers are highly effective against dogs.

The discharge of any of these devices causes nightSTICK’s camera to track and zoom onto the criminal’s profile. Imagery, stamped with an emergency SOS signal of your GPS location instantly, streams to authorities/contacts.

They assume a potential victim, under high stress, will have time, composure, and strength to overcome an attack that often occurs out of the blue.

What is so great about the nightSTICK camera?

Our miniaturized wearable camera is wide field-of-view to capture all elements of a crime scene or altercation, day or night. Its IR energy source makes its light invisible. nightSTICK’s algorithm pre-processes imagery to separate the assailant face and body features from background and shadows for high-clarity transmission.
